Mark joined Nicklin LLP in 2006 from a Birmingham City firm and became a Partner of the firm in 2011. He has a varied portfolio of clients for which he takes a personal interest, advising on their business and solving any problems it may have. Giving proactive advice to businesses and its owners, he is a strong believer of “what you can measure you can manage” and helps clients develop reporting systems and information to assist them with management decisions.
Sarah Barrett, Tax Manager
Sarah is a qualified certified accountant joined the Nicklins tax department in 2000, after spending nine years with a local practice. After initially working in audit and accounts, Sarah has specialised in tax since 1998 and has detailed knowledge and experience of personal tax and related areas. As one of the tax managers, Sarah looks after a varied portfolio of personal and business clients, dealing with self assessment and other tax compliance issues.
Trudi Perry FCA, HSP Nicklin Manager
After qualifying at another local firm, I joined the Nicklins team in 2006. I was based at the HSP Nicklin branch where I continued to work on accounts and audits, but was also introduced to medical accounts. I quickly found that this healthcare work suited me and that I really enjoyed working closely with Practice Managers to understand the NHS systems and the intricate work needed in profit splits and analysing income streams.
By 2009 the increasing client base meant that I could solely work with the medical clients, enabling me to fully develop my knowledge of the healthcare sector. As a result my average day can involve a whole variety of jobs, ranging from overseeing accounts preparation of the surgery accounts, superannuation, liaising with practice managers about bank loans, or preparing statistical analysis. Whatever my day entails, my main aim to ensure that I am available and approachable for clients to contact, whatever the reason for the call.
Gabi Simmonds, Accounts Associate
After completing her AAT Level 2, Gabi started working towards her AAT Level 3 qualification in the form of an apprenticeship at an accountancy firm in Manchester. She moved back down to the midlands and joined the HSP Nicklin team in July 2020. Gabi is currently studying towards her AAT Level 4 and will begin training to qualify as a chartered accountant. She specifically enjoys working with medical accounts within the HSP team and is excited to progress in a career with Nicklins, adding as much value as she can.
