Mark Howell FCA, Partner
I joined Nicklin in 2006 from a Birmingham City firm and am the Partner responsible for delivering high quality accounting, tax and advisory work to the Healthcare sector, in particular doctors. Acting for an increasing portfolio of doctors, dentists and consultants at HSP Nicklin we are proud to be a member of the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA).This ensures that we can offer our clients specialist advice specific to this sector. My experience is based on acting for clients in this profession for a number of years where I am also able to draw upon the work I perform for commercial businesses to give our clients the very best in service and advice.
A firm believer of “what you can measure you can manage” I have a “hands on” approach with dealing with client issues together with helping them develop reporting systems to assist them with management decisions.
Sarah Barrett FCCA, Tax Manager - Healthcare
I am a qualified certified accountant, and after spending nine years with a local firm, joined Nicklins Tax department back in 2000. After many years working on a varied portfolio of personal and business clients, I have headed up the HSP Nicklin healthcare client tax team since 2012. Our clients range from dentists, hospital consultants, salaried and locum GPs, single hander GPs through to larger GP partnerships, Limited Companies, pharmacies and federations. Whatever size or structure, our tax team can assist with tax compliance, tax planning and provide specialist advice on the often complex issues specific to those working in the medical profession.
Trudi Perry FCCA, Head of Accounts - Healthcare
After qualifying at another local firm, I joined the Nicklins team in 2006. I was based at the HSP Nicklin branch where I continued to work on accounts and audits, but was also introduced to medical accounts. I quickly found that this healthcare work suited me and that I really enjoyed working closely with Practice Managers to understand the NHS systems and the intricate work needed in profit splits and analysing income streams.
By 2009 the increasing client base meant that I could solely work with the medical clients, enabling me to fully develop my knowledge of the healthcare sector. As a result my average day can involve a whole variety of jobs, ranging from overseeing accounts preparation of the surgery accounts, superannuation, liaising with practice managers about bank loans, or preparing statistical analysis. Whatever my day entails, my main aim to ensure that I am available and approachable for clients to contact, whatever the reason for the call.
